It was a good run, but Zeeland East unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 7-1 to the South Lyon Lions.

Zeeland East got a good showing from Jailen Nesbit, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Nesbit has allowed over his last two contests.

On the hitting side, Zeeland East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Baxter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Zeeland East's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for South Lyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

While Zeeland East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
