Basketball Recap: Springfield Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Springfield Christian Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Lapeer Lakers Homeschool Lakers an easy 68-46 victory. While losing is never fun, Springfield Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Lapeer Lakers Homeschool is ranked 67th).

Leading Lapeer Lakers Homeschool to victory were Aiden Lomasney and Reed Cotton. Lomasney went 10 of 19 on his way to 25 points, while Cotton went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hayse, who posted nine points.

Springfield Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Lapeer Lakers Homeschool, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Springfield Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on FAITH HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. After both having extra time off, Lapeer Lakers Homeschool and Holland HomeSchool will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 12:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Lapeer Lakers Homeschool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
