Softball Recap: Vero Beach Wins Going Away Against Treasure Coast

It's playoff time, and Vero Beach had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Treasure Coast Titans with a sharp 10-3 victory on Tuesday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 1-0 victory last Monday.

Taylor Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kylie Williams was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Crysaria Joseph, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Vero Beach is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Treasure Coast, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Vero Beach will take on Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Treasure Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
