Baseball Recap: Xaverian Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Xaverian waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Holy Cross Knights get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 12-2 win back in April.

Jordan Steiger looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Xaverian is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Patrick Hassel and Lucas Zafra did most of the damage at the plate: Hassel went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Zafra went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Hassel has become a key player for Xaverian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13 otherwise. John Gilroy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Xaverian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Xaverian's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Holy Cross, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
