Softball Game Preview: Chicago Washington Patriots vs. Curie Condors

The Chicago Washington Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Curie Condors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Chicago Washington fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Brooks on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 19-18. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Julianna Rodriguez put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 7.1 innings while giving up four earned (and 14 unearned) runs off five hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Mia Menchaca led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Erika Estrada, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Meanwhile, Curie had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 10-6.

Chicago Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Curie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Chicago Washington came up short against Curie in their previous matchup on Monday, falling 10-6. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
