Baseball Recap: Fort LeBoeuf Takes a Loss

Fort LeBoeuf had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it six. They fell just short of the Girard Yellowjackets by a score of 5-4. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Girard, their win bumped their record up to 6-2. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Girard's part, they let Levi Potter and James Kibbe run wild. Potter went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run, while Kibbe went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Kibbe has become a key player for Girard: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aidan Maher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort LeBoeuf will venture away from home to square off against Meadville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bison are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Girard, they will head out on the road to take on Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: the Wildcats will have lost five straight heading into Wednesday's contest.
