Baseball Game Recap: Rockcastle County Rockets vs. Casey County Rebels

Rockcastle County barely beat Casey County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rebels a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Rockets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19, 2024 (when they won 14-0).

The result came thanks to Sawyer Yates's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rockcastle County's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 3-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Zeke Fain was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Pittman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Rockcastle County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rockcastle County's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9. As for Casey County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockcastle County will take on Wayne County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Casey County, they will head out to challenge Adair County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
