Baseball Game Preview: Whiting Oilers vs. Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves

Whiting is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Thornton Fractional South a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Whiting Oilers will be playing at home against the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Whiting fell victim to Hammond Academy of Science & Tech and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 8-0 to the Hawks.

Meanwhile, Thornton Fractional South came up short against Argo on Thursday and fell 6-3.

Thornton Fractional South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Lozano, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Lozano's first of the season. Another was Kyle Smith, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Thornton Fractional South's loss dropped their record down to 4-17-1. As for Whiting, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Whiting might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Thornton Fractional South in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Oilers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
