Baseball Recap: Independence Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Independence won the last time they faced Fairview and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Blue Devils never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Anderson Jolliffe was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Jolliffe was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Sam Crooks was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Owen Jenks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted a batting average of .091.

The win made it two in a row for Independence and bumps their season record up to 12-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fairview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Independence will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair will be back at it again later today.
