Softball Recap: Clovis North Gets the Win

The third road match was the charm for Clovis North, as they earned their first away win of the season. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Madera Coyotes on Tuesday. For the Broncos, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 win the Coyotes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Jocelynn Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Clovis North let Brynn Gentry and Zoey Thomas run wild. Gentry scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits Thomas has posted since back in May of 2024. Victoria Newman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-2-1. As for Madera, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Clovis North will welcome Sanger at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madera, they will venture away from home to face off against Arroyo Grande at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
