Football Recap: Avalon Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Avalon had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 49-16 defeat at the hands of the Fresno Christian Eagles. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Fresno Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Asatrian out in front who rushed for 117 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also caught one touchdown. Those 117 rushing yards gave Asatrian a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Tycen Ramirez, who threw for 232 yards and five TDs.

Looking ahead, Avalon will square off against Santa Clarita Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fresno Christian, they will challenge Sage Hill at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
