Baseball Game Preview: Columbine Rebels vs. Lakewood Tigers

For the second straight game, Columbine will face off against Lakewood. The Rebels will square off against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Columbine is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

On Thursday, Columbine made easy work of Lakewood and carried off a 14-4 victory.

Aidan Jordan made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Columbine is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Jordan was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Columbine got a massive performance out of Pryce Richie, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Richie is becoming a predictor of the Rebels' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). James Salazar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Columbine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Columbine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
