Softball Recap: Thomson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Burke County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomson). Everything went their way against the Burke County Bears on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-14 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Janiya Scott was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Jaliyah Ruff was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Thomson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Thomson now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Burke County, they moved to 13-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Thomson will welcome Elbert County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Burke County, they will head out on the road to challenge Screven County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
