Softball Recap: Apple Valley Wins Going Away Against Burroughs

Apple Valley won the last time they faced Burroughs and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sun Devils blew past the Burros 16-6. Considering the Sun Devils have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Gaytan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Johnson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Apple Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Apple Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Burroughs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Apple Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss against Sultana on the 1st. As for Burroughs, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 win against Serrano on the 1st.
