Baseball Recap: Yorktown Triumphs

Yorktown was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Wapahani Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Raiders back in April, they had to take a 9-4 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Cole Perdue, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Yorktown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

Yorktown's record now sits at 10-11. As for Wapahani, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-7.

Yorktown and Wapahani should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 118th) will meet Daleville (ranked 271st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wapahani will face off against Blue River Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (82 vs. 203).
