Baseball Game Preview: La Center Wildcats vs. Castle Rock Rockets

For the second straight game, La Center will face off against Castle Rock. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Center has ten straight wins, Castle Rock has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

La Center had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Castle Rock on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Rockets. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Austin Aseph tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gunnar Schockelt and Justin Fuller did most of the damage at the plate: Schockelt went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Fuller went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Schockelt has posted since back in March. Wyatt Eiesland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

La Center pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Castle Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-1.
