Basketball Recap: Lapwai Wildcats vs. Logos Knights

The Lapwai Wildcats came tearing into Saturday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 93-74 victory over Logos. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Kase Wynott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 6-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a triple-double on 48 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. Wynott is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Joseph Payne was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Logos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Seamus Wilson. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Spencer, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Lapwai's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.7 points per game. As for Logos, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Lapwai will head out on the road to challenge the Kubs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kamiah is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Logos, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Genesee has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
