Baseball Recap: Holy Spirit Comes Up Short

Holy Spirit lost against Cedar Creek on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Spartans took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Rubenstein was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Holy Spirit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Doug Schuster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Schuster has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Holy Spirit's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Cedar Creek, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Spirit will head out to face off against Ocean City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedar Creek, they will venture away from home to challenge Egg Harbor Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
