Basketball Game Preview: Woodland Christian Cardinals vs. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves

The Woodland Christian Cardinals will challenge the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Woodland Christian sitting on 15 straight victories and Western Sierra Collegiate Academy on 13.

Woodland Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mariposa County 88-43. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Woodland Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Romello Bruhn out in front who went 13-for-24 en route to 36 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The match was Bruhn's 56th in a row with at least 16 points. Tanner Thomas was another key player, going 10-for-16 on his way to 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy posted their closest victory since December 6, 2023 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bradshaw Christian 52-50.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy found their leader in sophomore John Harb, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Franco Omega, who had 11 points.

Woodland Christian pushed their record up to 24-5 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.3 points. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.

Woodland Christian strolled past Western Sierra Collegiate Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 66-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's Mathes Klein, who scored 24 points.
