Softball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 9-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Findlay Trojans, falling 8-2. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Findlay, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Findlay, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Findlay's part, Natalie Steffes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Monika Kerwin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Avalon Sprang, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Springfield will head out to take on Clay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Findlay, they will challenge Tinora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
