Softball Recap: University Christian Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Parrish Community, University Christian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Fleming Island Golden Eagles 4-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Christians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Dixie Tessier made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Tessier wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Piper Tessier, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Sinai Tunsill, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

University Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Fleming Island, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.

Looking ahead, University Christian will face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Christians are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Fleming Island, they will take on Ponte Vedra at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
