Volleyball Recap: Jasper Falls Despite Big Games from Aspen Lehman and Kiley Helms

Jasper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Jasper came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 25-23.

Jasper's loss came despite strong showings from Kiley Helms and Aspen Lehman. Helms had ten digs, while Lehman had 18 digs, 12 kills, and four aces. Lehman is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Leading Jefferson Independent Day to victory were Lillianna Billings and Soha Shaikh. Billings had 11 digs and two aces, while Shaikh had 16 digs. That's the most digs Billings has posted since back in September.

Jasper's loss dropped their record down to 9-11-1. As for Jefferson Independent Day, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-7-3.

Jasper wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Osceola on the 7th. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will be playing at home against Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
