Softball Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Lumberton Pirates, falling 21-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Douglas Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lumberton, their record now sits at 3-5.

Looking ahead, Douglas Byrd will venture away from home to square off against Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglas Byrd has given up an average of 20.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Lumberton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Whiteville at 5:00 p.m. Lumberton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
