Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Port Neches-Groves' 14th in Last 15 Outings

Port Neches-Groves won the last time they faced Lee and things went their way on Tuesday too. Port Neches-Groves put the hurt on Lee with a sharp 12-4 victory. Considering the Indians have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mckayla Hranicky was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other pitching news, Kalli Smith looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiana Ledoux, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jardin Cunningham, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Port Neches-Groves always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee only posted an OBP of .355.

Port Neches-Groves is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Lee is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1.

Coincidentally, Port Neches-Groves and Lee will both be playing Nederland the next time they take the field. Port Neches-Groves will head out to face Nederland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lee will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
