Basketball Recap: Synaa Waters Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

After losing to Ledyard the last time they met, Fitch decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fitch Falcons snuck past the Ledyard Colonels with a 49-44 victory on Wednesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fitch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Synaa Waters, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 19 points and six boards. The matchup was Waters' third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Wenger, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 11 points and four steals.

Fitch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Fitch now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Ledyard, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season.

Fitch has already played their next game, a 41-30 defeat against Norwich Free Academy on the 22nd. Ledyard will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Lyme at 5:30 p.m. on March 3rd. Ledyard is facing East Lyme at the right time seeing as East Lyme is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
