Softball Recap: Tennessee Finds Home Field Redemption Against John Battle

There's no place like home for Tennessee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over the John Battle Trojans on Wednesday. Considering the Vikings have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carly Compton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Haga, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katy Granger, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Tennessee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tennessee now has a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Tennessee will be playing at home against Sullivan East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for John Battle, they will face off against Tennessee at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
