Baseball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Conemaugh Valley on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Jays by a score of 7-6. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Nathan Phillips was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Tony Lawrence, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Portage's record now sits at 3-9. As for Conemaugh Valley, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.

While Portage had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
