Basketball Recap: Governor Thomas Johnson Takes a Loss

Governor Thomas Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The contest between them and the Urbana Hawks didn't end well, with the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots falling 65-47. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-34 back in January.

Urbana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zizi Etolue led the charge by going 7 for 10 on her way to 16 points and eight boards. Kiersten Smith was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Governor Thomas Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Urbana, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Governor Thomas Johnson will face off against Linganore on Friday. As for Urbana, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Oakdale at 7:00 p.m.
