Softball Recap: Villa Madonna Comes Up Short

Villa Madonna suffered their closest loss since March 12, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Bellevue Tigers by a score of 12-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 17-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Kate Gibbs made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Cotton, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Villa Madonna's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Bellevue, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Villa Madonna wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Walton-Verona on the 22nd. As for Bellevue, they will be playing at home against Holmes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
