Soccer Game Preview: Avon Grove vs. Henderson

Avon Grove is 1-7 against Henderson since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Avon Grove's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Avon Grove fell victim to Unionville and their airtight defense on Thursday. They fell just short of the Longhorns by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that Avon Grove have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Henderson hasn't lost a match since September 9th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Saturday. They never let North Penn get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Henderson's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while North Penn are ranked 112th).

Henderson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those nine matchups. As for Avon Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5-3.

Avon Grove might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Henderson when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
