Basketball Recap: Hoover Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, Hoover was not quite Point Loma's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pointers. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pointers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Point Loma was led to victory by Na'Sean Hardy and Jax Marple. Hardy went 8-for-17 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three blocks, while Marple shot 54% from the field en route to 17 points. The game was Marple's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Ramenofsky, who posted eight points.

Hoover's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Point Loma, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Hoover will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mount Miguel at 6:30 p.m. As for Point Loma, they will venture away from home to face off against Dos Pueblos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
