Baseball Recap: Fargo North Comes Up Short

Fargo North extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-11. They lost 12-3 to the Devils Lake Firebirds. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Devils Lake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Devils Lake's part, Mason Palmer was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Palmer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Devils Lake got a massive performance out of Taydon Triepke, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Triepke has posted over his last 12 contests. Cayden McCarthy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Fargo North will be playing in front of their home fans against West Fargo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Packers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Devils Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
