Recap: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans
Even though The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Archbishop Carroll Lions still came out on top. Archbishop Carroll took their game against The Academy of the Holy Cross 65-55. Given Archbishop Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in District of Columbia, while The Academy of the Holy Cross is ranked 64th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Carroll got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tiayo Adelekan out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adelekan has scored all season. Nyair McCoy was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight assists and five steals.
Archbishop Carroll's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Carroll will take on Dunbar at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of Good Counsel at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Our Lady of Good Counsel is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
