Baseball Recap: Morenci Wins Going Away Against Miami

Morenci won the last time they faced Miami and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Vandals with a sharp 7-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Jacob Verdugo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Morenci's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christopher Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaymz Guzzo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Morenci's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Miami, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.

Morenci wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-1 win against Willcox on the 14th. As for Miami, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-5 defeat against Alchesay on the 14th.
