Softball Game Preview: Newport Cubs vs. North Marion Huskies

The Newport Cubs are taking a road trip to challenge the North Marion Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Newport has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newport is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Stayton, falling 13-1.

Newport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ivy Ruddiman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, North Marion fell victim to Cascade and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 21-0 to the Cougars. The game marked the first time this season in which the Huskies were not able to get on the board.

North Marion has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Newport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
