Softball Recap: Villa Rica's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

If Villa Rica was riding high fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Bowdon last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the South Paulding Spartans by a score of 9-8 on Wednesday. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Peyton Harrison spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and two unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Parker Harrison and Helaina Magistro stepped up to the plate in a big way. Harrison got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, while Magistro went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Harrison has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Aila Kent also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Villa Rica fell to 3-1. As for South Paulding, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Villa Rica didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 victory against New Manchester on the 14th. As for South Paulding, they have also already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Alexander on the 14th.
