Volleyball Recap: Christ the Cornerstone Academy's Run of Nine Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Christ the Cornerstone Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sandhills Classical Christian Lions. The Defenders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-15, 25-17, 25-22.

Sandhills Classical Christian found their leader in freshman Lyla Hainley, who had 16 aces and five digs. With that strong performance, Hainley is now averaging an impressive 2.6 aces per game. Another player making a difference was Jersi Olsen, who had ten kills and eight digs.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Sandhills Classical Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Christ the Cornerstone Academy will challenge rival Mintz Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sandhills Classical Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Cornerstone Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
