Basketball Recap: Victor Valley Takes a Loss

Victor Valley was the 54-35 winner over Granite Hills when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Victor Valley Jackrabbits took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Granite Hills Cougars on Friday.

Despite the loss, Victor Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Arnetta Ealy Newton dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ealy Newton has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Fisiilose Amelia, who posted nine points and five boards.

Victor Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Granite Hills, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.

Victor Valley has already played their next matchup (against Adelanto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Granite Hills will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Silver Valley will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Granite Hills surely won't give up without a fight.
