Recap: Gilbert Tigers vs. Desert Vista Thunder
On Tuesday, the Gilbert Tigers faced the Desert Vista Thunder in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Gilbert fell 68-59 to Desert Vista. Gilbert's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Gilbert's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aspen McClees, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meisha Caserio, who scored 21 points.
Desert Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eanae Dagons, who scored 17 points along with eight steals. Dylan Swindle was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Desert Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert will take on Highland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Desert Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. Queen Creek has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
