Baseball Game Preview: Friday Harbor Wolverines vs. Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes

For the second straight game, Friday Harbor will face off against Mount Vernon Christian. The Wolverines will square off against the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Friday Harbor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Friday Harbor took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mount Vernon Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Jackson Feliz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Friday Harbor is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Feliz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Feliz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Harrison Edge, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most hits Edge has posted since back in April of 2024.

Friday Harbor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Mount Vernon Christian, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.
