Softball Game Preview: Warrenton Warriors vs. Rainier Columbians

Warrenton is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Rainier Columbians at 4:30 p.m. Warrenton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Rainier will come in with three straight victories.

On Saturday, Warrenton didn't have quite enough to beat Clatskanie and fell 2-1.

Warrenton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Natalie Davis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Rainier ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 15-12 win over Knappa.

Warrenton's loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Rainier, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Warrenton couldn't quite get it done against Rainier when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
