Softball Recap: Elko's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Elko fell victim to Spring Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Taylor Hunton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Elko saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vanessa Romero, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Elko moved to 10-6 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Spring Creek, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

While Elko had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
