Baseball Game Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Alameda Hornets

Castro Valley and Alameda are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Trojans will head out to take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Castro Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Castro Valley's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Encinal 2-0. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Castro Valley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Arthur Sims, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alameda). They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Newark Memorial on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.

Castro Valley pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Alameda, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.

Castro Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Alameda when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
