Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Lakewood Tigers

Mountain Range has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lakewood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Mountain Range will welcome Lakewood at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Range is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Mountain Range came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Westminster by a score of 11-9 on Thursday.

Landon Maves made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Mountain Range is 4-1 when Maves posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Weingartner, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lakewood lost 9-3 to Cherry Creek on Tuesday.

CJ Mahoney put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off three hits. Mahoney was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Mountain Range's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Lakewood, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Lakewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Range has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Lakewood, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Mountain Range's hitters?
