Softball Recap: Newport - Bellevue Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hazen on Friday, Newport - Bellevue came back down to earth. The Knights came up short against the North Creek Jaguars on Monday, falling 11-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Lauren Blank made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Emma Chen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for North Creek, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newport - Bellevue will head out to challenge Woodinville at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against Cedarcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.13 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
