Softball Recap: Calumet Gets the Win

The third road game was the charm for Calumet, as they earned their first away win of the season. They skirted past the Kingsford Flivvers 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Copper Kings: when they faced off against the Flivvers on Tuesday, they had to take a 5-0 loss.

Kaylee Newsom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Isabella Coppo and Lena Myhren did most of the damage at the plate: Coppo went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Myhren went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Bethany Garrow, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Calumet's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Kingsford, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, Calumet will challenge Hancock on Saturday. As for Kingsford, they will take on Negaunee at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
