Basketball Recap: Beachside Comes Up Short

Beachside entered their matchup against The First Academy on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Barracudas received a blow as they fell 63-44 to the Royals. If the Barracudas were looking for revenge after losing 52-44 to the Royals when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Defeat or not, Beachside got some senior leadership from Morgan Cremen and Madilyn Ray. Cremen almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, while Ray went 5-for-12 en route to 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Cremen's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ella Rae Bauman, who posted six points.

Beachside now has a losing record of 4-5. As for The First Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.

Coming up, Beachside will be taking part in a tournament against Mater Lakes Academy at 12:45 p.m. on the 27th. As for The First Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Somerset Academy - Canyons at 3:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
