Baseball Recap: Northfield Wins Going Away Against Fremont

Northfield came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Fremont Eagles with a sharp 9-3 victory on Saturday. For the Norsemen, this counts as revenge for the 8-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Jaden Baer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Northfield is 6-1 when Baer posts two or more runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kam Pratt, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Fremont, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northfield will square off against Southwood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Norsemen are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Fremont, they will head out to take on East Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
