Soccer Game Preview: Los Gatos vs. Homestead

Los Gatos and Homestead are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but likely not for long. The Los Gatos Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Homestead Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Los Gatos took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Mountain View onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Spartans are ranked 20th).

Max Lees was the driving force of Los Gatos' attack as he scored both of Los Gatos' goals, bringing his season total up to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Homestead was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Wilcox by a score of 3-1. The result kept the Mustangs happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 21, 2024.

The win got Homestead back to even at 3-3-5. As for Los Gatos, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1.

Los Gatos came up short against Homestead in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Los Gatos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
