Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Training Center Christian

Training Center Christian waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Independence Home School Lions by a score of 56-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given Training Center Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 162nd in Missouri, while Independence Home School is ranked 40th in Kansas).

Training Center Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Creed Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Lopez's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Bryce Bryan was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Training Center Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Independence Home School, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Training Center Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Show-Me Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Independence Home School also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 5:45 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
